This pattern makes a flexible seamless box and lid with crisp corners and edges.
You can store your favourite necklace or earrings in this box.
The base is 4cm square, and the lid is slightly larger. The height is up to you. Begin by making the base. The technique for making the base is similar to flat round peyote. It grows from the centre, with each row spiralling around 3 central beads. Increases are made in each corner, at regular intervals to form a flat square with straight sides. The sides of the box are worked up from the base in what I call four corner tubular peyote.
If you want your box to be rigid, you can make it to cover an existing cardboard or wooden box.
The box can be made with one continuous length of thread.
It's easy to use these instructions to make a smaller or larger box.
A blank graph is included for putting your own pattern or picture on the lid. You could also put patterns on the sides of the box.
Have fun
