Before moving to New York City to work as a costume maker for professional theater, I earned a B.A. and M.A. from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in theater from The Ohio State University. By day (and many nights) I knit, crochet, or embroider costumes for films, theater, opera, and dance. Some of my work has been seen in films such as "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Memoirs of a Geisha" and Broadway shows such as "CATS".
Making gorgeous beaded costumes led me to beadwork jewelry. My beadwork has been seen in "500 Beaded Objects", "Bead International 2006", and exhibits in New York and Japan.
When I am not knitting for a production, I play with beads, fiber, knitting, crochet--whatever piques my interest. My trip to Istanbul, Turkey to speak at the International Bead and Beadwork Conference in 2007 intensified an interest in Turkish beads and textiles. I am still designing bead crochet patterns and plan to explore combining fiber and beadwork in jewelry. |
